CATERPILLAR D6C 10K SERIAL LOOKUP FULL
When you look at it check the oil in the finals it should be full and not silvery, if it is way overfull oil from the tranny is leaking in through the cross shafts, if it is low check for leaks, if it is leaking outside bad finals are shot, if it is low and no leaks and trans is overfull oil is going the other way in the cross shafts. Anything jap built seems a little better. Unless its premium i would look for something newer. Now we have d6h it has ran for years with only routine maintenance. I had a d6c it looked pretty good when we bought it, but it turned out to be pretty used up. Posted 22:10 (#6438652 - in reply to #6438245) Subject: RE: Going to look at a cat d6cĭave speaks wisdom. Undercarriage is the easiest to see, easiest to buy, hard to pay for, but wait til you get to the final drive=hard to see?.Not really, take an oil sample, look for what appears to be aluminum paint, only it isn't.Įmail works, finally again, my fault will watch closer. You only throw a track in a bad spot, then they don't look so cheap.
